My LVSD Warning Signs: When Pancreatitis Was Actually Heart Failure (EF 20%)

I never expected my life to change in a matter of minutes.

Living with pancreatitis, I’ve learned to handle flare-ups — the pain, the nausea, the exhaustion. So when those familiar symptoms started again, I assumed it was just another round. I tried to ride it out like I always had.

But this time, something was different. The weakness hit harder. My breathing felt heavy. My whole body felt like it was shutting down.

And then I realized — I wasn’t just uncomfortable; I was fighting to stay conscious.

The 999 Call That Saved My Life

I dialed 999, thinking I’d get checked for another pancreatitis flare-up.

That call changed everything.

I was admitted on 15th October 2025 and didn’t leave until 22nd October 2025. During that week, test after test revealed what I never expected:

Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction (LVSD)
Ejection Fraction: 20%

In simple terms: my heart was barely pumping, and I was in severe heart failure.

I always imagined heart problems would come with dramatic chest pain. Instead, mine hid behind symptoms I thought I already understood.

Life After Diagnosis

Before that hospital stay, I had no idea how close I was to losing everything.

Now, I’m on 7 life-saving medications —

  • 3 once a day

  • 2 twice a day

These tablets are not optional. Right now, they’re what’s keeping me alive.

I attend follow-up appointments regularly. Cardiology. Monitoring. Adjustments. This is my new normal — and accepting that was hard, but necessary.

Why I’m Sharing This

I don’t want anyone else to brush off serious symptoms the way I did.

If your body suddenly feels wrong, different, more intense than usual — listen to it.

Don't assume.
Don't wait.
Don't try to tough it out.

I thought it was pancreatitis again. It turned out to be heart failure affecting multiple organs — and delaying help could have cost me my life.

Please Learn From My Story

  • Chronic illness doesn’t protect you from new emergencies.

  • Not all heart failure looks like the movies.

  • Early medical help can mean the difference between recovery and tragedy.

  • That “just in case” 999 call might save your life.

If something feels off — get checked.

You don’t get a second chance at life. I almost didn’t.

I’m grateful I made that call.
And if my story pushes even one person to get help sooner, then sharing this is worth it.
